In the past at school, nowadays in the office: We sit several hours a day and often without interruption. This behavior is called sedentariness. Especially our musculoskeletal system suffers from this. In addition to muscular tensions and stiff joints, one complaint in particular is widespread: In Germany every third person suffers from back pain. The pain can manifest itself and become chronic, so that it occurs even without an acute trigger and stays for a long time.
Sedentariness also increases the risk for other diseases. While sitting the metabolism slows down. This can lead to obesity, diabetes mellitus type 2 and to cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure or heart attacks. But there is also good news: The risk of all these health-damaging side effects can be reduced quite easily.
